PAINT Overspray
All NESHAP (National Emissions Standards of Hazardous Air Pollutants) compliant painting operations that atomize liquid [paint] either by means of compressed air or high pressure dispersion from an application device held at a distance from a prepared surface, must be conducted in a controlled environment designed to prevent the escape of excess airborne paint droplets to the atmosphere. This is accomplished by controlling the airstream within the confined area and passing it through filtration products designed to remove any pollutants from the exhausting air. Three compliant designs, but not limited to these designs, commonly used to accomplish this control are:
- Downdraft spray booth exhaust filtration
- Side draft spray booth exhaust filtration
- Open front booth / Rear wall exhaust filtration
